World-Premiere of Outdoor Game Launched in Mars PA

BUTLER COUNTY, PA (May 20, 2024) – Something out of this world has landed in Mars, PA at Mars-Bethel Golf.

The historic mini-golf and recreation center premiered a brand new patent-pending game to an invited group of family, friends, and community members on Thursday, May 16. It’s a unique combination of mini-golf and cornhole aptly named “Cornhole Golf”. Operator Joe Vivirito said the project has been a family effort.

“This is an invention of mine I came up with about four years ago,” said Vivirito “I threw the idea around and for seven days a week for about 18 months, Joey and I have been building everything you see here. My son Joey has been right by my side the whole time, and so many other family members.”

The unique course was constructed and painted by Vivirito and features a crashed UFO, purple tentacles, and of course aliens.

During their soft opening, a citation from Commissioner and Mars Native Kim Geyer was presented to Mary Hooten, daughter of the founder of Mars-Bethel Golf Gertrude Naser . The citation recognized the course’s 60 years of bringing family-forward recreational activity to the area.

The innovative new attraction adds one more accessible and affordable recreation option to the business which also offers a mini golf course, a 9-hole Par-3 course, and Soccer Golf!

The goal is for visitors interested in the space-inspired name of the town to have another reason to stay in Butler County and patronize Mars restaurants and other businesses.

"We are so excited to have a great new attraction for the community and the many visitors coming in this summer," said Amy Pack, Executive Director of Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau. "We are proud to have such a great family attraction and entertainment complex.
