Overview
The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is an annual count that happens each year between mid-December and early January by volunteer birdwatchers. It is the nation's longest running community science bird project which provides a wealth of information for use in science, especially conservation biology, though many people participate for recreation.
Now in it's 124 year, we invite kids and parents to participate in a family-friendly version of the Christmas Bird Count. Our naturalist will guide you during this event which is appropriate for school-age and up. No exeprience is necessary.
This is an outdoor program, please wear appropriate shoes and outerwear to enjoy your time birding. We may walk on uneven terrain, as well as paved and hard-packed areas which are mostly flat. Bring binoculars if you have them; we will have some binoculars on-hand to borrow.
Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. While this program is FREE, advance registration is required so we can best prepare!
