What started as a 20th century moviehouse now reinvents itself as Butler, PA's focal point for the performing arts, live shows, music, comedy, speakers, films, interactive & novel fun, private events & weddings, corporate conferences & meetings, & so much more, serving the community as an anchor for history & heritage, as a source for outreach & support, & as the heart of arts, events, & culture! So, come, one & all, to experience the magic of Butler again!
Mission: We will reinvigorate the historic Penn Theater as the region’s premiere hub for arts, entertainment, culture, and heritage through community-centered, high quality, diverse events, promoting economic revitalization for downtown, while enriching the quality of life of our citizens and lifting up the needs of those marginalized across our Butler County community.

The Penn Theater is Butler’s only remaining 20th century moviehouse, with construction starting in 1937 and its grand opening in April 1938, styled with classic ‘30s appeal, and featuring 14,000 sq. ft. of usable event and pre-function space. The current Penn Theater is a multi-use, multi-function event facility, keeping the community’s needs and preferences at the center of its operations, with a variety of modular and innovative amenities and arrangements.
