October is really a beautiful month in Butler County. This year, the transition from summer to fall could be seen taking place around the third week of the month. Not only were the leaves beautiful, but the weather was really cooperative for being able to spend time enjoying various outdoor activities. Families were attending the Farm Tour, Oktoberfest’s, riding bikes, viewing the beautiful colors with walks on the various trails and getting in some last minute boating on Lake Arthur at Moraine State Park.
Hello, my name is Teri and I am the Administrative Assistant with Butler County Tourism and also a proud Butler County resident for the last 30 years. This past weekend was the last big summer weekend for 2016 -- Labor Day. This weekend means so many different things, but when the Western PA weather cooperates as it did this past weekend, it usually means outdoor activities! For me, this weekend meant getting outdoors.
"There are so many great breweries producing excellent beer today," said Bob McCafferty, owner of North Country Brewing Company. With so much competition, it's great to know that all of the breweries have their own unique specialties. For Bob, it's a dedication to being sustainable and creating styles that are grown on their our farm. Seasonal beers such as Heather Ale and Lavender Abbey bloom from pasture to pint. A fall favorite, Late Night Pumpkin Ale is brewed with real pumpkin meat and hand spiced rather than with flavorings, extracts or additives.
